Red wine on a moving train: it’s a wobbly experience that’s not for the most particular clientele. But this laid-back experience allows patrons the chance to drink local, NorCal wines while rolling through the very same sort of sun-drenched farmland that produced the grapes in each glass.
The Brief
A local tourism train company, Mendocino Railway, added a new on-board experience to the lineup: the Old Vine Express. This farm-to-glass and back-to-the-farm-again experience called for a wordmark that captured the rustic, rambling, entirely unpretentious experience.
The Result
I gave a lot of thought to the intrinsic value of tasting local wines on a local train while riding through local farmland. The resultant wordmark illustrated wine without coming right out and saying it, with the laid-back vibe of sloshing wine on a moving train.
